Shortly After The Beginning

Everything was happening a bit fast. I was developing, and improving the things I was carrying with me every day, and generally trying to organizing parts of my life just a bit. Sure I had come to the realization that if the proverbial shit ever were to hit that fan it wouldn’t be pretty for my crew, but I had not accepted the outcome completely. It was still “that will never happen to me” syndrome. At this point I was still playing with simply trying to be a better mechanic, and have the stuff on me that would be useful to me and the people around me on a day to day basis. Ill get into the details of that later, but thats where I dwelled for a few months.

I have always been an avid reader, and as my life started to get more and more busy I had less and less time to read. I started listening to audio books to get my literary fix, and I couldn’t have been happier. Science Fiction was my go to, mixed in with the typically popular fantasy books. Once and a while I would hit the religious categories, and then always back to Science Fiction. It was getting a bit repetitive though and I was looking for a new genre, I just didn’t know what. I had already been reading the Facebook page Bushcraft and Survival Tribe mostly teasing myself with all the stories of people walking out into the woods for a week with just what was on their backs, and having the skills to survive. I spent a lot of time with my father camping as a child and this was bringing so much of it back.

At this point I was desperate for something to read, and I figured I would hit the survivalist genre on the web site I get my books from, and the first thing that popped up was The book Going Home by A. American. It wasn’t the first thing that popped up, but the first thing that seemed interesting at least. I downloaded it and the next morning when I hit the road for work I pressed play on book 1. That was it, I was hooked! I spent the next month powering through all seven books in the Going Home series.

Morgan Carter changed everything.

More to come
